Eau Claire Distillery: Alberta’s first craft distillery has been honoured at the 2015 Craft American Spirits Competition, receiving a Bronze Medal from the American Distilling Institute (ADI) for its Parlour Gin in the ‘Classic Distilled Gin’ category. The Turner Valley based distillery was the only Western Canadian brand recognized among 457 spirit entries. Hosted in San Francisco over the course of three days, the judging panel included fellow distillers, spirits writers, bar owners, and retailers.

The only distillery in North America with its own horse farming operation, on the May holiday weekend, its team of percheron and belgian horses along with a crew of 15 men will plough and seed at the historic Bar U Ranch, just south of Longview. The planted rye will then be harvested in the Fall for use in the distillery’s spirits.

The pioneering distillery is also celebrating the opening of its Visitor Centre and Tasting Room, giving members of the public the opportunity to taste its acclaimed Parlour Gin,Three Point Vodka and Spring Equinox, a limited edition seasonal special. Tours and tastings are available May 1-September 30, from 10am – 4:30pm, or by appointment. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
