Eau Claire Distillery Cherry Gin Distiller’s Series and Cōchu Chocolatier Cherry Gin Chocolate Bonbons Release
Locally handcrafted chocolate and spirit combo will leave libation lovers and chocolate connoisseurs struck by Cupids bow.
Turner Valley, AB, 19 January 2017: Eau Claire Distillery is announcing an exciting collaboration with local Cōchu Chocolatier, Anne Sellmer, just in time for Valentine’s Day. Made with love, Alberta’s first craft distillery hopes to make February 14th that much sweeter by pairing their Cherry Gin Distiller’s Series with Cōchu Chocolates hand-crafted and hand-painted Cherry Gin Chocolate Bonbons.
Caitlin Quinn, Eau Claire Distillery’s Master Distiller, created Cherry Gin after picking up sour cherries from a local farm in Okotoks last summer. Deciding to see how it tasted, the Cherry Gin is Quinn’s twist on the Polish Kirsch, a cherry flavoured vodka. Taking Eau Claire’s classic award-winning Parlour Gin and infusing it, post distillation, with sour cherries, then allowing the flavours to blend together, creating a taste of romance and personal chemistry.
“My creative playground is chocolate – for the folks at Eau Claire Distillery it’s fine spirits. Together we’ve collaborated, using their fabulous new cherry gin to invent a chocolate that’s dazzling pink and red on the outside and creamy smooth on the inside, combining cherry, gin and chocolate in a heavenly balance!” says Cōchu Chocolatier, Anne Sellmer.
Anne Sellmer, Cōchu Chocolatier and founder, comes from a Calgary family of foodies and chef’s. With a love for great food, Anne creates boutique contemporary chocolates and confections. Cōchu Chocolates are gaining international recognition, recently winning top honours for Best Taste, Ingredient Combination and Exterior Design at the 3rd Annual International Chocolate Salon, for her chocolate bonbons made with Eau Claire Parlour Gin.
The bonbons that come with each botte of the Cherry Gin will have the same delicious taste and are hand-painted with festively vibrant colours, including fuchsia, ruby and sangria red to go with the alluring hue of the Cherry Gin. Cōchu Chocolates has just recently opened to the public making these Cherry Gin Bonbons Calgarians first taste of the newest chocolatier in town.
“Two passionate local craft producers, combining their love for Chocolate and Gin. Could there be a better gift for Valentines’?” says Eau Claire Distillery President and Founder, David Farran.
This limited collaboration makes for a great local and one-of-a-kind gift and will be available February 1st, 2017 at select Calgary liquor stores and the Tasting Room at Eau Claire Distillery in Turner Valley.
