Naranja Single Malt Cask Release
From the Alberta foothills to the orange-lined streets of southern Spain. Naranja Cask Release brings together two places and two traditions: our single malt from the Alberta foothills and a fortified orange wine from Andalucía.
The Casks
In Andalucía, Vino de Naranja is a tradition generations in the making. Bitter Seville oranges are dried and infused into fortified wine, slowly releasing their aromatic oils and balancing vibrant citrus bitterness with rich sweetness.
The wine is matured in a solera, a traditional system where younger and older wines are gradually married together over time. Gentle oxidation adds layers of nuttiness, warmth and complexity, and all of it settles into the seasoned oak. Those are the casks our whisky calls home for its final three years.
The Foothills
Back home, Naranja Cask Release starts with 100% Alberta malted barley and glacial water from the Sheep River. It spends five years in ex-bourbon oak, more than 4,000 feet above sea level, where Chinook winds and sharp temperature swings push the whisky deep into the wood and back out again. It then rests for a further three years in the Naranja casks, taking on candied orange, warming spice and bittersweet citrus.
The Bottle
Non-chill filtered, with no added colour, and bottled at 52.5% alc./vol. Vibrant and warming, it opens with candied orange, settles into mature oak and ends with a long, bittersweet citrus finish.
